Finding affordable flights doesn’t have to feel like a full-time job. There are tons of tools that can help you snag the best prices, if you know where to look. Here are some of my go-to sites when booking flights.
- Google Flights
- This is one of the best sites to search for flights. This site provides the opportunity to compare prices across different airlines. They also provide easy-to-use filters (bags, stops, etc) when searching to customize your search to your preference. The site also shows price trends to help you determine if it is a good time to book. You can also set price alerts. You can also explore the map to see the cost of flights to different cities.
- Skyscanner
- Similar to Google flights, this site is great for flexible travelers. You can search from your city to “Everywhere” and see which destinations are cheapest that month
- Skiplagged
- This is a good site to search for deals especially hidden-city deals, where you book a flight with a layover in your actual destination and skip the final leg. While this strategy is not recommended, this site can be great to find deals and they provide different methods to book
- Airline Websites
Always check directly with the airline once you’ve found your flight on any other sites. Prices can be the same or even cheaper when booking direct, and it’s easier to handle changes or cancellations. Also, certain airlines (such as SouthWest) do not appear on other search engines.
